    Created Equal: America's Civil Rights Struggle

    Northeast Lakeview College, marking the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation, invites you to join us for these free events.  In partnership with the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, NLC will support community screenings and panel discussions centered around emmy award-winning documentaries that depict specific points of America's historic struggle with civil rights. 

    The Abolitionists - October 3 and 10, 2013 @ 6:00 pm (two parts) - Dr. Elizabeth Hudspeth, Panel Lead

    Slavery by Another Name - February 4, 2014 @ 6:00 pm - Dr. Gregory Hudspeth, Panel Lead

    The Loving Story - October 7, 2014 @ 6:00 pm -  Dr. Mark Sadler, Panel Lead

    Freedom Riders - February 3 and 10, 2015 @ 6:00 pm (two parts) -  Ms. Sabrina Hammel, Panel Lead


    Film screenings and community panel discussions will be hosted by a local scholar and will include community members with insight into these events. Students, community members, and staff are invited to join us in the Northeast Lakeview College Performing Arts Center.
