Your Assignment

Argumentative Essay/Essay 3

An argumentation is often defined as “the art of influencing others, through the medium of reasoned discourse, to believe or act as we wish them to believe or act” (Rottenberg 9).

Directions:

  1. Write this essay in essay format (introductory paragraph, 3 body paragraphs, and conclusion paragraph). Make sure that you have an explicit thesis sentence. In addition, your thesis should only be one sentence in the introductory paragraph. Pick a debatable and/or controversial topic. (Hint: Make sure you pick a side for your argument. In other words, you cannot discuss both sides of an issue.)
  2. Use 1 source. This source needs to come from the library’s electronic database or from a book. (No internet sources. When I say internet, I mean no Google, MSN, and other general searches via web. )
  3. This essay should be a minimum of two pages.
  4. Type this essay in MLA format. Make sure that you submit a works cited page. (HINT: If the works are cited in the essay, they need to be cited on the works cited page. On the other hand, if the works are on the works cited page, they should be cited in the essay.)
  5. Make sure you submit this essay to the Pearson tutors. If you do not submit your essay, I will deduct points.
